Where would I be getting tutored?

Do tutors follow the curriculum?

The tutors are familiar with the BC curriculum and can follow it; however, it is not uncommon for tutors to use supplementary materials that are apart from the curriculum. Tutors will also prepare a separate and specialized curriculum depending on the strengths and weaknesses of a student.

Do the tutors have the textbooks the students use in school?

Think Out Here has its own library for its tutors to use, so tutors have access to most of the textbooks for most of the subjects students study. Although most elementary and high school textbooks are available, Think Out Here does not have a library of university textbooks since the editions change so frequently; therefore, university students are asked to provide materials ahead of time via email or Google Documents in order for the tutor to prepare more specifically.

Do you give trial lessons?

We do not provide a trial lesson. During the first tutorial, the tutor can give a quick 5 minute diagnostic to see where the student is in his or her confidence and skill level. The rest of the class will be a true tutorial, instructing the student.

How do I pay?

Each month, Think Out Here sends out an invoice at the end of the month via email. The student has until the 15th of the following month to pay via a cheque (made out to Think Out Here) in the mail. If payment is not received by the 15th of the following month, the Company has the right to charge a 15% interest rate, which is stated at the bottom of each invoice and in the Student Contract.

What happens if I cancel last minute?

Canceling with less than 48 hours notice results in the student be charged in full for the tutorial session (i.e. If the student booked 1.5 hours and cancels last minute, he or she is liable to pay for the full 1.5 hours). The cancellation policy is stipulated in the Student Contract.

With the proper amount of notice, a student may move his or her session if it fits with the tutor’s schedule.
