ece1Many parents worry about “pushing their children too hard” or “letting kids be kids”.  Both of those concerns are very valid.  However, education is also a commitment that children will be involved in for the next 12-16 years, depending if they choose to enter post-secondary; part of being a kid is learning and becoming educated.  Learning is something that they will need to master to be successful not just in school but in life.  Therefore, how does a child learn to be a master “learner”?  With practice!

Learning does not have to be pressure-some or gruelling.  Yet, it can feel that way if a child is not taught at an early age to value it.  Early childhood education is about being proactive.  Often, parents seek tutors only when students struggle, ‘reacting’ to a found problem.  However, there is no fault in getting ahead and being prepared, especially in a such a competitive environment such as Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.  There is really no harm in getting started early when it can be so fun for and beneficial to the child.

Thus, is your child too young to start tutoring with Think Out Here?  In most cases, absolutely not!  If your child is the age of 3, then Think Out Here has an early childhood education program that can be specialized for your child’s needs.

The tutor can come to your home in Vancouver or the Lower Mainland.  First, Think Out Here’s tutors will take an assessment of the child to see if he or she is reading yet or can recognize numbers and letters.  Then, the tutor will observe the attention span of the child.  How long can the child stay focused before needing a break or getting bored?

Once the tutor has a good idea of the child’s behaviour, then, the tutor can choose the right activities and materials for the child.  While working with the child, the tutor will observe how he or she learns.  Is he or she more hands-on, visual, or auditory?  Tutors have access to a ton of different toys, art supplies, books, workbooks, songs, and other learning tools to use with the early childhood learner.

During the whole process, the kids are having a blast while learning!  The children are having fun learning their ABCs and 123s.  They get to draw, write, sing, colour, chat, and share with the tutor, all the while learning and getting ahead. They learn to appreciate and handle books.  They learn dexterity, patience, and focus.

Parents who choose Think Out Here for their children’s early learning are giving their children an edge in all competitive academic environments, while teaching them confidence and self-esteem in their intelligence.  Children who participate in early childhood learning with Think Out Here will be ready for the next stages of education.  They will be the leaders of their classes, which will give them the courage to strive for greater achievements in education and possibly in other aspects of life.

Not only will Think Out Here’s early childhood education program give kids a boost in academics, but it will also strengthen communication and problem-solving skills.  They will learn how to think critically at an early age, which develops empathy. Think Out Here’s style of tutoring early childhood education is meant to be well-rounded.

The program is perfect for parents to expose children to the structure of school in their own homes, preparing children for school.  Students who have participated in Think Out Here’s early childhood education have gone on to receive high grades and show a genuine desire to learn and seek knowledge.  Building the understanding that learning can be fun and interesting, early on, is valuable for any child’s future.

Think Out Here has many students from Burnaby North Secondary School.  Many of them are part of the Advance Placement  (AP) program.  They have informed us that their principal, Mr. Brandt, has been promoted to the BC Board of Education and has been replaced by Mr. Lee.  Congratulations to Mr. Brandt and Mr. Lee!

Mr. Lee is transferring to Burnaby North from Burnaby South Secondary School.  Hopefully, he will continue to uphold  Burnaby North’s reputation for high academic achievements and standards.

It is also Burnaby North’s 90th anniversary on April 11th, 2013.  They are having a special celebration at 6PM in the North gym to commemorate 90 brilliant years.  Tickets are $10.  Contact Ms. Wong if you are interested.Unknown-7

At the celebration, students who have won the poetry contest will read their work to the crowd.  The poetry will be about Burnaby North, celebrating its excellence.  There will also be guest speakers and special performances that depict Burnaby North throughout the years.  This even is a great chance to network with alumni and current students.  Check Burnaby North’s website for more details.

A reminder to all Burnaby North and other grade 10, 11, 12, and AP students: provincial exams and AP exams are nearing.  Book a Think Out Here tutor to help you prepare or to brush up on any difficult units or chapters.
